The Atlantic Diving Team program is dedicated to providing opportunity and encouragement for all of its divers to make an uncompromised commitment to the pursuit of excellence, and through the process of striving to be the best that they can be to acquire life-enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our team is affiliated with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Diving, Inc., which serves as the national governing body for springboard and platform diving in the United States. USA Diving is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and promotion of diving across the country. It is a member of United States Aquatics Sports, Inc. and World Aquatics, the international federation overseeing diving and various aquatic sports. Both AAU and USA Diving oversee a range of diving programs, including Novice, Junior, Senior, and Masters levels.
ADT is always excited to get new students! The minimum age for a new diver to dive with us is 6 years old.
This program emphasizes the development of essential skills and knowledge, preparing participants for advancement to the JO3 Novice Group or allowing them to enjoy recreational diving.
These dedicated divers commit to rigorous training schedules, practicing up to 6 days a week to hone their skills and achieve their competitive goals such as Local, Nationals and International competitions.

The ADT Family and Friend Fun Day is a highly anticipated event in our diving program, usually taking place in late July. This annual gathering is designed to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories for our athletes, their friends, and family members.
Leading the Atlantic Diving Team is Olympic Coach Osvaldo “Pito” Alberty, whose passion, knowledge, and experience continue to inspire young athletes both in and out of the pool. Today, Coach Pito dedicates himself to introducing children to the sport of diving, helping them develop their skills, build confidence, and pursue their dreams of becoming the next generation of divers and champions.
But there was a time not long ago when Coach Pito himself was a magician in midair.
He could launch from the one-meter and three-meter springboards and the 10-meter platform, performing flips, somersaults, and twists before making a graceful entry into the water—legs straight, toes pointed, and every movement executed with precision. He was one of the top divers in his native Puerto Rico and earned the honor of qualifying for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Unfortunately, just one year before the Olympics, Coach Pito’s life changed dramatically. In 1995, he began experiencing flu-like symptoms, a high fever, and severe muscle weakness. Within a week, he became paralyzed from the neck down after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).
For many people, such a devastating setback might have marked the end of their athletic journey. For Coach Pito, it became the beginning of a different kind of journey.......

Atlantic Diving Team is affiliated with USA Diving, and membership is essential for participation and competition. The team competes in Region 3, which includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina, as well as Zone B, encompassing nine states: Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. To qualify for the Regional competition, divers must be recommended by the head coach and meet the age-specific dive requirements established by USA Diving. Additionally, divers are expected to have a JO list to compete.
